How Many Calories Do You need Each Day?

Use this calculator to estimate how many calories you need to maintain your weight each day. Then add physical activity to estimate how many additional calories you need to maintain your weight. If your don't replace those calories, then you can lose weight.  Burning approximately 3500 calories will result in the loss of 1 pound of fat. Doctors recommend reducing daily calorie intake (food) by no more than 500 calories per day.  So if you decrease your food by just 500 calories per day, you can reasonably expect to lose one pound of weight per week.  If you increase exercise and burn an extra 500 calories per day, in addition to lowering your food intake by 500 calories, then you can expect to lose 2 pounds per week.  Any more weight loss is generally considered dangerous.
